Achilles, an American hardcore punk band from Rochester, Upstate New York,
formed in 2004 after the disbandment of local bands Building on Fire, the
Breaking Project, and Standfast. Influenced by Botch, Isis, and Cave In, they
released a self-titled EP that year. Their debut full-length studio album, The
Dark Horse, was released in 2005 under Hex Records. This was followed by their
second album, Hospice, in 2007. The band's activity decreased due to members'
commitments to other projects, such as Rory van Grol’s Soul Control and Chris
Browne’s Polar Bear Club.
