Akio Sasajima
Akio Sasajima, born in 1952, is a jazz guitarist from Hakodate, Hokkaido. His
playing style incorporated bebop, hard bop, and jazz fusion. In the late 1980s
and early 1990s, Sasajima recorded several albums as a leader for labels such as
Muse and Enja. Notable releases include Akio with Joe Henderson (1988), Time
Remembered (1989), and Humpty Dumpty (1990). He collaborated with prominent
musicians like Joe Henderson and Ron Carter, releasing Akioustically Sound in
1995. In 2015, Sasajima released the album Images of Lennon/McCartney.
