Alan Reid is a Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist and songwriter born on May 2,
1950, in Glasgow. He reached wider visibility as a founding member of the
Battlefield Band, which he joined in 1969. Reid is credited with introducing
keyboards to the Scottish folk music scene. His recording career with the
ensemble included the studio recordings Farewell to Nova Scotia (1976) and Wae's
me for Prince Charlie (1978). While remaining a member of the group, he released
