Alexander Wasiliev, known professionally as Alex Lloyd, was born in November
1974 in Sydney, Australia. He is a singer and songwriter of Russian-Irish
descent who grew up in the inner Sydney suburb of Balmain. At age 15, he was
part of a school rock band that won the 1990 Balmain Battle of the Bands. This
early success led to the formation of several bands, including The Beefs and
