Alfred Piccaver

Alfred Piccaver, born February 5, 1884, in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, was a British-American opera singer. At a young age, he emigrated with his family to Albany, New York. Piccaver began his musical journey as a soprano in the choir of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and later studied under S. Graham Nobbes and Allan Lindsay before enrolling at the Metropolitan School of Opera in 1905. His breakthrough came in 1907 when he debuted at the Deutsches Landes-Theater in Prague, performing in The Merry Wives of Windsor. He joined the Vienna State Opera in 1912.
