Alien Sex Fiend, formed in London by Nik Wade (Nik Fiend) and Christine Wade
(Mrs Fiend) in 1982, emerged from the early 1980s goth scene as a duo that
blended theatrical horror imagery with rock. Their breakthrough came with the
1983 single "Ignore the Machine", which reached Number Six on the UK Independent
Chart, followed by a series of singles and the debut EP The Lewd, the Mad, the
