Bernard William Jewry, known professionally as Alvin Stardust, was born on 27
September 1942 in Muswell Hill, England. He began his music career in the early
1960s under the name Shane Fenton and had a moderately successful run with four
UK top 40 singles between 1961-62. His first notable hits were "I'm A Moody
Guy", "Walk Away", "It's All Over Now" and their biggest hit, "Cindy's
Birthday", all released on Parlophone Records. After a decade-long hiatus from
the spotlight, Jewry reinvented himself as Alvin Stardust in 1973, capitalizing
