Aly Bain
Aly Bain, born 15 May 1946 in Lerwick, Shetland, United Kingdom, is a Scottish
fiddler who began learning under Tom Anderson. Bain’s early career included a
brief stint with the Humblebums and membership in Gordon Hank and the Country
Ramblers before becoming a founding member of the Boys of the Lough, a role he
held for over three decades. His solo debut Aly Bain (1984) was followed by
Lonely Bird (1992) and Beyond the Stacks (2007). Bain collaborated with Phil
