Ari Roland
Ari Roland, born in New York City around 1970, is an American modern jazz double
bassist. Roland began playing the bass at twelve years of age, gave his first
professional performances at sixteen years of age, and studied at the Juilliard
School. From the early 1990s, he performed alongside jazz veterans including Doc
Cheatham, Lou Donaldson, Barry Harris, and Betty Carter, as well as musicians
such as Frank Hewitt, Zaid Nasser, Nellie McKay, Chris Byars, and Sacha Perry.
