ARTERY
Artery, a British post-punk group from Sheffield, was formed in 1978 by
guitarist Mark Gouldthorpe, vocalist-guitarist Toyce Ashley, bassist Neil
McKenzie and drummer Garry Wilson. After self-financing "Mother Moon" in 1979
and signing with Aardvark Records for "Unbalanced" in 1980, the band gained the
support of BBC Radio DJ John Peel and recorded two BBC sessions in 1981. Their
song "Into the Garden" reached number 9 in the 1982 Festive Fifty. Artery
