Artists United Against Apartheid was a protest group formed in 1985 by activist
and performer Steven Van Zandt and record producer Arthur Baker to raise
awareness about apartheid in South Africa. The group's primary achievement was
the release of the song "Sun City" and the accompanying album Sun City. Inspired
by the plight of Native Americans, Van Zandt wrote a song about Sun City, a
luxury resort in Bophuthatswana that circumvented apartheid laws. With the help
