Asami Kobayashi, born Toshiko Tanabe on November 29, 1953, in Kōriyama, Japan,
is a singer, actress, and model. She began her career as an idol while still in
high school, debuting with the single "Hatsukoi no merodī" ("Melody of First
Love") in 1972, which reached number 18 on the Oricon Singles Chart. Kobayashi
gained prominence in the late 1970s through modeling and acting in commercials
for major brands such as Shiseido and Parco. Her breakthrough came with the 1984
hit "Amaoto wa Chopin no Shirabe" ("The Sound of Rain is Chopin's Music"), a
