Basilio Antonio Fergus Alexander, known as Basilio, was an Afro-Panamanian
singer-songwriter and musician. Following his medical studies in France, he
developed his artistic career in Spain. His breakthrough came in 1972 when he
won second prize at the first edition of the OTI Festival representing Panama
with “Oh, Señor.” Basilio released several albums throughout his career,
including Too Much Love (1977), and So Much Love (1984). Notable songs include
“Ve con él,” “Vivir lo nuestro,” and “Tierras lejanas.” In May 2008, Basilio
