Bernard Peiffer
Bernard Peiffer, born on October 23, 1922 in Épinal, France, was a jazz pianist
and composer. He began studying piano at age nine and won first prize at the
Conservatoire de Paris. Peiffer started his professional career at 20, playing
with André Ekyan and Django Reinhardt. During World War II, he joined the French
Resistance. Post-war, he formed his own quintet and performed in various jazz
clubs. In 1949, Peiffer played piano with Geo Daly's quartet and composed music
for the film Rendez-vous de juillet (1949). In 1954, Peiffer moved to the United
