Bert van den Brink, born on July 24, 1958, in the Netherlands, is a Dutch
composer and pianist. Born blind, he began piano lessons at age five and studied
at the Konservatorium Utrecht from 1976 to 1982 under Herman Uhlhorn, graduating
cum laude. Initially performing classical concerts, van den Brink transitioned
to jazz. Van den Brink's career took off with his membership in the Amstel
Octet, collaborating with Chet Baker on Hazy Hugs (1985). He has since performed
