Betty Bennett

Betty Bennett was born on October 23, 1921, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and was an American jazz singer. Raised in Hamburg, Iowa, she studied piano and voice at Drake University and pursued opera. Her professional breakthrough came in 1943 with Georgie Auld's orchestra, followed by a 1945 USO radio show for WAVES on Parade. After World War II, she performed with Claude Thornhill in 1946, Alvino Rey from 1947 to 1949, and Charlie Ventura from 1949 to 1950.
