Bill Clifton
William August Marburg, known as Bill Clifton, was born on April 5, 1931, in
Riderwood, Maryland, and is an American bluegrass musician and singer. He began
singing and playing guitar at age 12, influenced by country music heard on the
radio. While studying at the University of Virginia, he formed the Dixie
Mountain Boys with fellow students Paul Clayton and Dave Sadler, adopting the
stage name Bill Clifton. Clifton's career saw significant milestones, including
