Although formed as a noise rock act, Blonde Redhead evolved its sound throughout the 1990s, 2000s, and beyond, incorporating new sounds like alternative rock, dream pop, and shoegaze. The band was founded in 1993 by Kazu Makino, Amedeo Pace, Simone Pace, and Maki Takahashi. After the release of Blonde Redhead's self-titled debut album in 1994 and its follow-up, La Mia Vita Violenta, in 1995, Takahashi left the lineup.
