Robert Hudson, born in Sydney, Australia, on 15 October 1946, was an Australian
singer. He began his music career as a solo folk and comic singer in the late
1960s. His breakthrough came with the satirical narrative "The Newcastle Song",
which topped the Kent Music Report singles chart in March 1975. The song was
part of his album Newcastle Song, released in 1974, co-written and produced by
Chris Neal. He also wrote and recorded "Girls in Our Town", covered by Margret
