Buffy Sainte-Marie
Of Native American origin, Buffy Sainte-Marie (b. 1941) has used her art to
defend the Indian cause. A multi-disciplinary artist, she has introduced the
general public to Canadian Indian culture. Her work, committed to a variety of
causes and close to that of Joan Baez, is rich in beautiful folk moments: "Now
That's the Buffalo's Gone" and "Cod'ine", the albums It's My Way(1964),
Illuminations (1970) and She Used to Be a Ballerina, her foray into country the
