Forró eletrônico mainstays Calcinha Preta began in Aracaju, Sergipe, on December
8, 1995, when producer Gilton Andrade formed the group following a previous
ensemble named Santa Rosa; early vocalists included Sidney “Chuchu” and Luciana
Linhares, and their debut studio album A Banda de Forró Mais Gostosa do Brasil
(1996) quickly sold over 100,000 copies. They gained regional traction with
1997’s hit “Onde o Sonho Mora” before breaking through nationally in 1998 with A
Moçada é Só Filé!, which spawned gold-certified singles such as “Desilusão,”
“Saudade,” and “Jura Que Me Ama.” In...
