The Calder Quartet, a string quartet based in Los Angeles, California, was
founded in 1998 at the University of Southern California by violinist Benjamin
Jacobson, violist Jonathan Moerschel, and cellist Eric Byers. The group took its
name from American sculptor Alexander Calder. Their early training included
studies at the Colburn School with Ronald Leonard and advanced chamber music
studies at the Juilliard School. In 2014, the quartet was awarded a prestigious
