Charlie Shoemake

Charlie Shoemake, born Charles Edward Shoemake on 27 July 1937 in Houston, Texas, is an American vibraphonist who began piano lessons at six and studied at Southern Methodist University. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he took private lessons with Jimmy Rowles and recorded with Charles Lloyd, Art Pepper, and the Lighthouse All Stars. In the mid-1960s, he later switched to vibraphone under Victor Feldman's influence. From 1966 to 1973, he was a member of George Shearing’s quintet, gaining international attention.
