The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies were founded in 1989 in Eugene, Oregon, by
singer‑songwriter Steve Perry, bassist Dan Schmid and trumpeter Dana Heitman;
the trio began playing punk‑inflected funk before evolving into a horn‑heavy
swing‑ska hybrid. Their first demo, From On High, led to the self‑released LP
Ferociously Stoned (1990), a regional success that showcased their blend of punk
energy and jazz arrangements. Subsequent albums Rapid City Muscle Car (1994) and
