Chris Kirby
Chris Kirby is a Canadian jazz, funk, R&B, and pop singer-songwriter from
Newfoundland. Before his music career, Kirby worked as a software engineer. He
performed as a solo artist and with his band, The Marquee, which featured Craig
Follett on bass, Mark Marshall on drums, and Chad Murphy on guitar. Kirby cited
female singers as his primary influences, specifically Aretha Franklin, Mavis
Staples, Joss Stone, and Norah Jones. In 2009, Kirby released the album Vampire
Hotel, which won a Music NL Award and earned four East Coast Music Award
