Wrongly considered a "one hit wonder" because of their 1970 international hit
"Yellow River", Christie owes its name to its leader, singer and bassist Jeff
Christie. Formed in Leeds in 1965, the band was completed by Vic Elmes (guitar)
and Mike Blakley (drums) at the time of its greatest success. Christie's
composition for The Tremeloes, but not chosen by the band because it was
considered too pop, "Yellow River" catapulted Christie to the top of the charts
