Clementina de Jesus da Silva, known as Clementina De Jesus, was born on February
7, 1901, in Carambita, a district of Valença, south of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She began her professional singing career at the age of 63 when she was
discovered by composer Hermínio Bello de Carvalho, who invited her to
participate in the Rosa de Ouro show and recorded her first album with Odeon
Records. Her distinctive voice can be heard on four solo albums, including
Clementina de Jesus (1966) and Marinheiro So (1973), as well as collaborations
