Clive Lythgoe, born on April 9, 1927, in Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom, was a pianist. At seven, he was captivated by piano playing in a Carmen Miranda film and later won a piano scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. By the 1950s, Lythgoe was a regular on the concert circuit. His breakthrough came in 1954 at the Royal Albert Hall Proms performing Arthur Bliss's Piano Concerto in B-flat.
