Collette Roberts, known mononymously as Collette, was born in Christchurch, New
Zealand, in 1968. She began her career as a fashion model before transitioning
into music. In 1988, she started working with Guy Gross in Sydney to co-write
material for her solo career. Her breakthrough came with the release of "Ring My
Bell", a cover version of Anita Ward's hit, which reached Number 5 on the ARIA
Singles Chart and Number 4 in New Zealand in February 1989. The single was
