Corduroy was formed in London in 1991 by twins Ben Addison (drums, vocals) and
Scott Addison (keyboards, vocals), both formerly of Sire Records act Boys
Wonder, joined by bassist Richard Searle and guitarist Simon Nelson‑Smith; the
group originated as a one‑off New Year’s Eve party act that evolved into the
“fabric four.” Their breakthrough came with the 1992 debut album Dad Man Cat,
released on Acid Jazz Records, followed by the single "Motorhead" in 1993 and
