Dave Barbour

David Michael Barbour, born on May 28, 1912, in Long Island, New York, was an American jazz guitarist. At age 12, he performed at Carnegie Hall as a banjoist. Barbour began his professional career with Adrian Rollini in 1933 and Wingy Manone in 1934 before switching to guitar mid-decade. He played with Red Norvo from 1935 to 1936, and later worked as a studio musician with Teddy Wilson, Billie Holiday, Artie Shaw, and others. Barbour also acted in films such as Mr. Music and The Secret Fury, and performed sporadically until his death from a hemorrhaged ulcer on December 11, 1965,...
