David Owen Mackay, born on March 24, 1932 in Syracuse, New York, was an American
jazz pianist and singer-songwriter. After graduating as the first blind student
from Trinity College in 1954, he studied under Margaret Charloff at Boston
University and later with Lennie Tristano and Bill Evans. Mackay played with the
Don Ellis Orchestra in the mid-1960s. In 1992, he released Take Me To Brazil,
followed by Two On A Swing (1993) and Interplay (1997). He collaborated with
Vicky Hamilton, Bill Henderson, and Tierney Sutton, and contributed to ensembles
