David Townsend
David Edward Townsend, born on May 17, 1955, in Inglewood, California, was an
American musician and songwriter. He began his career as a guitarist for the
Isley Brothers' backing band Sunrize before forming the group Port Authority
with David Conley and Bernard Jackson. They became staff writers at EMI,
contributing to songs like "Let's Be Friends" (1985) by New Edition and "You're
So Fine" (1985) by Sister Sledge. In 1985, Townsend secured a contract with
