Device was an American pop-rock trio from the mid-1980s, formed by keyboardist
and bassist Holly Knight. The group also included frontman Paul Engemann and
guitarist Gene Black. Before forming Device, Knight had already established
herself as a songwriter, penning hits for artists like Pat Benatar and Tina
Turner. In 1985, Knight and Black collaborated with Turner on "One of the
Living" from the soundtrack to Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The following year,
