Duffy Jackson
Duff Clark "Duffy" Jackson, born July 3, 1953, in Freeport, New York, was an
American jazz drummer. The son of jazz double-bassist Chubby Jackson, Duffy
began playing drums at a young age, performing with notable figures such as
Count Basie and Duke Ellington before finishing high school. In 1971, he moved
to Los Angeles, collaborating with Monty Alexander and Ray Brown. Following a
tour of Japan with Benny Carter, he appeared on television with Sammy Davis Jr.
(1974–1976). In the 1980s, Duffy worked with Lionel Hampton and Al Jarreau,
rejoining the Count Basie Orchestra in 1985 ...
