Dusty Fletcher
Clinton "Dusty" Fletcher, born on July 8, 1900, in El Dorado, Arkansas, was an
African-American vaudeville performer and comedian. He refined his act over
twenty years before the 1940s. In August and September 1931, Fletcher performed
in the all-Negro revue Fast and Furious, produced by Forbes Randolph. His
breakthrough came with the comedy routine "Open the Door, Richard!" which became
a hit record in 1947. Bandleader Jack McVea fashioned Fletcher's routine into a
