Edmund Dantes Urick, known professionally as Ed Ames, was born on July 9, 1927, in Malden, Massachusetts. He was an American singer and actor who began his musical career with his siblings in the Ames Brothers quartet. The group formed while Ames was still in high school and won competitions around the Boston area. They later signed with Decca Records in 1947 but faced a holdover from the musicians' strike, leading to only three singles being released initially. After signing with Coral Records, they achieved their first major hit with "Rag Mop" and "Sentimental Me" in the 1950s....
