Electronic is an English alternative dance band formed in 1988 by singer/guitarist Bernard Sumner of New Order and guitarist Johnny Marr of The Smiths. Their initial meeting occurred in 1984 when Marr contributed to a Quando Quango track produced by Sumner. Electronic's debut single, "Getting Away with It", was released in December 1989 and sold around 350,000 copies, becoming a Top 40 hit in the United States.
