Eliana Pittman, born Eliana Leite da Silva on August 14, 1945 in Brazil, was a
singer and actress. Her stepfather, jazz saxophonist Booker Pittman, played a
pivotal role in her musical development as her first teacher and mentor.
Pittman's breakthrough came with the release of "Tristeza" in 1966, which earned
her immediate recognition across South America. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s,
she released several albums including Eliana & Booker Pittman (1963), É Preciso
