Ella Mae Morse
Ella Mae Morse was born on September 12, 1924, in Mansfield, Texas, and began
her musical journey singing with her father's band. At 14, she was hired by
Jimmy Dorsey. Her breakthrough came in 1942 with "Cow-Cow Boogie
(Cuma-Ti-Yi-Yi-Ay)", recorded with Freddie Slack, which became Capitol Records'
first gold record. Morse released successful singles like "Mr. Five by Five" and
"Milkman, Keep Those Bottles Quiet", and appeared in the film Reveille with
Beverly. She collaborated with Tennessee Ernie Ford on "I’m Hog Tied Over You"
and had hits such as "Shoo Shoo Baby". Her last hit...
