Ensemble 96, a Norwegian chamber choir based in Oslo, was founded in 1996 from
the now-defunct Oslo Philharmonic Chamber Choir. The ensemble focused on
contemporary music and received partial government funding. Under founding
conductor Øystein Fevang, Ensemble 96 performed commissioned works such as
"Psalm 8" by Antonio Bibalo. Their first album, Old, was released in 2001 on
Universal Music featuring Ketil Bjørnstad. In 2005, Ensemble 96 released
Immortal Nystedt on the label 2L, which earned a nomination for the 49th Grammy
Awards in the categories Best Choral Performance and B...
