Erkki Aukusti Junkkarinen, born on April 22, 1929, in Suonenjoki, Finland, was a
Finnish singer. He began performing as a soloist with a local orchestra in
Lappeenranta from 1947. Junkkarinen's breakthrough came in 1950 when he won a
singing contest in Helsinki, after which he recorded "Yksinäinen harmonikka"
under the direction of Toivo Kärki. His early success included hits like
"Imatran Inkeri". By 1954, his popularity began to wane, but he returned to
