Naiwen Yang, known professionally as Faith Yang, was born on 2 March 1974 in
Taiwan and later grew up in Sydney, Australia, where she studied biology and
genetics at the University of Sydney. After graduation, she returned to Taiwan
and entered the local pub circuit, quickly gaining recognition with her backing
band, Monster. In 1996 she signed with Magicstone Records, and her debut album
Silence (1999) earned her the 2000 Golden Melody Award for Best Female Mandarin
