Francisco Javier Bautista Jr., known professionally as Frankie J, was born on
December 7, 1975, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Raised in San Diego,
California, he began his music career under the stage name Frankie Boy in the
late 1990s, initially gaining experience with Canadian independent record label
Ventura International Records and Hola Recordings. In 1999, Bautista joined the
musical group Kumbia Kings, performing under the name Cisko. His solo debut came
