Freddie Martínez
Alfredo Ricardo Martinez Galvan, known professionally as Freddie Martínez, was
born on April 15, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He began playing the trumpet
at age nine and formed the Freddie Martinez Orchestra in 1958 while still a
student. In 1969, Martínez founded Freddie Records with his wife JoAnn. His
first album, Botoncito De Cariño, was released that year. By 1972, he was dubbed
"the American-Mexican Elvis Presley" by Billboard. Martínez directed the Freddie
