Fredro Starr, born Fred Lee Scruggs Jr. on April 18, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York,
is an American rapper and actor. He started as a breakdancer and street poet,
inspired by films like Beat Street and Krush Groove. In 1986, Fredro Starr began
performing under the name Kool Fredro at local jams in Queens. He co-founded the
hardcore rap group Onyx with Big DS and Suavé in 1988. The group signed with
Profile Records in 1990 and released their debut single "Ah, And We Do It Like
