General Norman Johnson, born May 23, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia, was an R&B
singer-songwriter and record producer. He started singing in his church choir at
age six. In 1961, General Norman Johnson's group, the Showmen, released "It Will
Stand", which became a chart hit. After disbanding in 1968, he joined Invictus
Records and formed Chairmen of the Board. Their debut single "Give Me Just a
Little More Time" (1970) reached number 3 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart in
1970. General Norman Johnson also wrote successful songs for other artists,
including the Grammy Award-winning "Patc...
