Tilmann Otto, a.k.a. Gentleman, is one of Germany’s best-known reggae
artists—yet he has never shied away from stylistic experimentation. Born on
April 19, 1974, the Osnabrück native has lived in Cologne since he was one year
old. After being expelled from school twice, he was drawn to Jamaica, where he
came to know and love the musical genre he would later represent in an
