Ghettosocks
Darren Pyper (born in Ottawa, Ontario), known professionally as Ghettosocks, is
a Canadian underground hip-hop rapper and producer. Based in Halifax, he began a
musical career in 2003 with the release of the album Zoo School. A member of the
Backburner collective, he also performed in the ensembles Teenburger and Twin
Peaks. In 2010, his album Treat of the Day reached Number 1 on the ChartAttack
Canadian Hip-Hop chart. The single “Don't Turn Around” won Rap/Hip-Hop Single
Track Recording of the Year at the 2011 East Coast Music Awards, and Pyper
