Gilberto Santa Rosa
Puerto Rican salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa was born on August 21, 1962, in
Santurce, where he developed his interest in music from a young age. He made his
recording debut in 1976 with the Mario Ortiz Orchestra but it was during the
early 1980s when his professional career really began to take off. During this
period he recorded with various renowned Latin orchestras including the Tommy
Olivencia Orchestra and the Willie Rosario Orchestra. He quickly became known
for his improvisational style of salsa and Latin audiences were thrilled by some
